On Wednesday the 4th of November 2015 we went to Petrosains the Discovery Centre. This was our last full day in Kuala Lumpur and we thought we would do something fun. We were going to go to either the discovery centre or the aquarium called Aquaria. The aquarium lost!
As we had already been to an aquarium in Valencia we decided to go to the Discovery Centre instead.
The Petrosains was on the top floor of the Suria Mall outside as I mentioned in the Petronas Towers report.
When we got to the top of the mall and arrived there was a whole school there. I don’t think the children even work because the day before we had gone to Cosmos Theme Park there was a whole school there too. We decided to go to the illusions first.....
When we got to the room with all the illusions there was a guy to introduce us. He asked us where we were from and we said Ireland and he said that the illusions place was from Dublin. Illusion was developed by Science Gallery at Trinity College Dublin and offers a diverse range of artworks or exhibits that deal with different types of illusions. We didn’t know that so it was very surprising to us.
The illusions were so good I’m not going to spoil it for you; you’ll just have to go yourself.
Then we went to the Petrosains. The Petrosains and Illusions are one building but illusions travel around and while we were in Kuala Lumpur it was there from the 15th of October to the 15th of November 2015. Petrosains is there permanently but only in Kuala Lumpur.

While we were queuing there was a little side room with two bicycles and a button presser thingy were you had to press as many buttons that flashed in thirty seconds. The bicycle machine was to see how fast you could go and power some lights. In front of you was a mirror with lights all around the edge and you had to get them all to light up.
To get to the Petrosains place you had to get in a pod that fits four people which was good for us because there are four of us. The pod ride was really cool because you went uphill and then turned around so you could see a video of a jungle and a voice was talking to you. For those of you who think he ride was fast......... it wasn’t.
When we arrived at the place where you got off at we were welcomed to Petrosains and we went to the first room. There was so much there I’ll tell you the best bits. There was a tube that all four of us barely fitted into and when you closed the door air started going and there was a thing on the top of the tube and it told you the power of the wind. There was a screen in front of you that showed you the damage that the wind would have done. The power of the wind reached 126kph or 75mph.
In the same room there was an experiment that you had to be twelve or above to do so I wasn’t happy. My mum decided to give it a go. It was called the flaming hand....... There was a guy who had a jar of a mixture of salt and water and sprayed it onto my mum’s hands. Next he put a ball in my mum’s hands and told her that when he put the ball in her hand and lit it that she had to juggle it. The mixture of and water on her hands somehow kept her hands from setting on fire. My mum couldn’t feel a thing.
When we went into another room we walked in and BAM there was a massive singing t-rex. This is what it sounded like....... DUH DUUH DUD DUDUDU DUUUUUHHHHH. It was actually quite funny.

There was another room where there were lots of puzzles and my favourite was one that my dad and Tom did and they built a big pyramid out of triangles and shapes that look like triangles but they are not triangles.
When we were coming back we had to take a pod back the way we came only this time we turned around a different way.

When we got back we left and we all got waffles - always a good idea!
Altogether it was a brilliant day out and I would recommend going if you ever get the chance.
